Croatian rising star: Andrea Penezić

Prodravka Vegeta showed an impressive performance in the Group Phase of the CL and this weekend the Croatians will visit Viborg. The young national team left back, Andrea Penezić, scored 37 goals and now she is in the top 10 on the top scorers list of the CL. Eurohandball.com talks to her.

Eurohandball.com: In first round against Hypo your scored eight goals, but Podravka lost…

Penezic played well at the EURO 2008Andrea Penezić: It was a really tough match. Hypo fought hard and they deserved to win. We did not play well. Our offence was good, we scored 30 goals, but then again we had too many technical mistakes. I’m sorry for the fans that because we did not take at least a point. Now we have two away matches in Denmark and it will be very difficult to get points there.

Eurohandball.com: You arrived in Koprivnica this season from Lokomotiva Zagreb. It seems that you adapted perfectly to the team of Zdravko Zovko.

Andrea Penezić: I already feel at home here. I think I fit in the team, but I need more time to get to use to the high rhythm at trainings and matches.

Eurohandball.com: You made remarkable progress last year.

Andrea Penezić: Last year some nice things happened and also some things to forget. Croatia did not qualify for Olympics and I’m still not over it. The good thing was when I received the Croatian Player of the Year award. This means a lot to me and I will do my best to continue to play well in my club and in the national team.
