Valcea cannot lose any more

Oltchim Valcea are now third in their group behind Győr and Togliatti, but they will close the Main Round with two home games. On Friday they will play against Nürnberg and then they will host the group leader Győr.

The game against Nürnberg is a must-win clash for the Romanian champions:

“Nürnberg managed to steal a point from us in the first game. Now it is time to pay back. We have to win, with at least half-goal difference. The most important thing is to get the 2 points,” says coach Tadici.

Valcea are aware that they have to change something to find back to the winning ways. After 6 wins in a row in the first group phase, Valcea only managed to get one win out of four games in the Main Round.

“I knew from the beginning that such a period would come; it’s normal. I just hope this is over now. As a matter of fact, I’m sure that we cannot lose more games in the group. We are strong and we have to prove it once again,” says the coach of Valcea.

There was more bad news for Oltchim this week. Line player Oana Manea was forced to take a rest because of heart problems. Manea will be out for at least 3 weeks. Apart from her, Elisei, Puscasu and Gatzel are also unavailable due to injuries in Valcea.
