Aalborg back in the CL

Aalborg DH, who have so proud traditions in the Women´s Champions League, will return to the competition – at least to the qualification tournament next season.

Aalborg have qualified for the Danish championship final after a 27-25 away win against Ikast.

“After securing the future of the club in the Danish league last year, it is fantastic to be back in the championship finals. We are ready for the Champions League qualifiers at least! This is one of the greatest turn of fate I ever heard of,” Jan Hansen, managing director of Aalborg DH, told Eurohandball.com.

“We had a tremendous support all the way – also through the difficult times – and it is wonderful to be able to give something back to the people who supported us. We will have more to offer for our sponsors next season,” Jan Hansen added.

New players?

Hansen earlier stated that there would be no new players next season – apart from those already signed. However, this decision may change now.

“I think that our team can do well even on a European level. We also have to be realistic and make sure that we can cope in the Danish league at the same time. We may review the situation and maybe we will add one more player to the squad. We may also expect some more income if we play in the Champions League. That would probably help us to increase our salary budget,” Jan Hansen told eurohandball.com.

Aalborg will meet Viborg HK in the Danish Final. The Champions League finalists qualified last weekend already.
