KRIM IS OPTIMISTIC

Even though Slovenian Krim Mercator lost the 1st leg match of the Women’s 2005/2006 Champions League finals against Viborg on home soil the players and the coach will not give up. They think that they are still very close to winning the Champions League trophy.

Victory is echoing
The team from Ljubljana was very disappointed after the first final. However, a few days after the match they have now “cleared their minds” and are beginning to look at things optimistically.

“If we did not believe in our victory it would be better to stay home,” Tanja Oder told eurohandball.com – Oder, who did not really get opportunities to score in the first match. “This is handball – a collective sport - it does not depend on one person. I do not care if I am not scoring, in the end the most important thing is to win,” she added.

Physical strength
Especially Viborg’s defence created many problems for the team of coach Tone Tiselj.

“Viborg took advantage of our weakness. We are physically not so strong, they are very strong. They also have more players to send into the match. We had to play with only seven during the entire 60 minutes. I know it will be hard on Saturday,” Krim's coach looks ahead on Saturday’s match in Denmark.

This will be his last match with Krim who he took to the biggest successes. “I just want spectacular handball. I believe that my girls are capable of a miracle. They proved that during all the years we have been together and especially this year,” he is looking forward to the end of a 6-year period in Krim.

Krim will have to make up two goals in Saturday’s match in the NGRI Arena in Aarhus, Denmark. This is not impossible – in this year’s 1/4 finals Krim equalised a seven goal lead of Lada Togliatti, eventually qualifying for the semi-finals.
