Tuesday 25 April saw the draw for the 2005/2006 Women's Champions League final take place in Vienna (AUT). Krim Ljubljana from Slovenia will be facing Viborg HK from Denmark at home in the first match, and the Danes have the home advantage in the return match.

The 2005/2006 Women's Champions League final, will be the 5th final for Krim Ljubljana, and after victories in the seasons 2002/2003 against El Osito L'Eliana Valencia and Viborg HK in 2000/2001 Krim is now aiming for their third Champions League victory.

Viborg HK from Denmark has made it all the way to the Champions League final for the third time in its club history. After losing the finals in 1996/1997 to Mar Valencia and to this year's opponent Krim in 2001/2002 they are now eager to win the most important European Club competition for the first time.

After the draw eurohandball.com talked to the Manager of Krim Ljubljana Jernej Virant about the final opponent and about playing away in the second leg match.

Eurohandball.com: The lot decided that you will be travelling to Denmark for the second leg match of this year’s final. Is this a disadvantage?

Jernej Virant: To us it is the same thing. If you want to win the Champions League you have to be able to beat all teams - away and at home. Viborg is a very good team, but the statistics are on our side. In this years group phase we played against Viborg, and we won both matches. In addition, we have very good memories from the 2000/2001 final, where we were able to defeat Viborg in the Champions League finals.

Eurohandball.com: How would you describe your final opponent?

Jernej Virant: Well, Viborg HK is a very strong team - otherwise, they would not have made it all the way to the Champions League finals. We highly respect Viborg HK; and although we won both group matches, the finals will be two completely new matches. We must be very well-prepared for the final matches.

In fact, I am very happy to meet Viborg HK in the finals. We have a very good relationship with the club, and our fans will also receive the Viborg team with great respect in Ljubjlana.

Eurohandball.com: Now you have come to the final two - do you think your team can take the final step and win the trophy?

Jernej Virant: This will be our 5th Champions League final, and yes, we hope we can take the trophy to Slovenia for the third time. We are looking forward to two exciting matches in May.
