KOMETAL GP IS NOT AFRAID OF KRIM
The Macedonian women’schampion Kometal GP need a win this weekend against Motor Zaporozhye to securea quarter-final place in the Women’s Champion league. With six points KometalGP is leading in group C together with Slagelse. Both teams are a step closerto the second round, but need a "simple" win on home soil, againstMotor and Lada. The last round game in Denmark will decide who will be firstand avoid Slovenian Krim Merkator, only unbeaten team in group D. After the 20-12win against Slagelse in Skopje, the Macedonian club strongly believe that theywon’t lose with 8 goals.
- We have proven that we havestrong defence, we have many players to chose from, and we are well motivatedOur main goal is to beat Motor Zaporozhye. Then will start to think about thenext game - said Andriy Portnoj, Kometal GP coach.
In the first round in January in Ukraine, Kometal GPwon 22-20. Now, home supporters expect a clear win to start the celebrations. But even though the quarter-final place is already secured, the second questionis, "will Kometal play against Krim Merkator"?
"We're not afraid to play against Krim. We knowthat Slovenians are currently one of the best European teams, but we have alsosome chances against them - comments Andriy Portnoy, Kometal GP coach. - I'dlike to play against Krim.
Both team plaed against each other in the European Championshipfor Club Teams in Germany in December 2004. Krim Merkator won 34-32
- Then we had problems with injured players, severalplayers missed the preparation due to national team matches at the ECh inHungary. Now the situation is completely different. Let Krim Merkator thinkabout us and not the other way round - said Portnoy.
In Saturday, Kometal GP willplay with the strongest line up. Goalkeeper Olga Kolesnik has rested for twodays due to minor injure, but will re-join team-mate Nataliya Borisenko.
