Ciudad prepare for an equal battle

This weekend, the Spanish title holder Ciudad Real will travel to Kiel, the venue where they celebrated their title exactly a year ago.

The form of the team is promising. Ciudad have recently secured the Spanish league title by defeating FC Barcelona at home with Rutenka and Abalo leading the score.

With this success in their mind, they can prepare for the CL Final in a good atmosphere. The biggest problem they have to face is the injury of Ales Pajovic.

Pajovic skips the CL Final

Parrondo believes that the odds are equalAles Pajovic will not be able to play for Ciudad Real over the weekend. The powerful Slovenian left back and former Kiel player broke his right wrist at a training session last week. Pajovic felt okay right after the accident, but the medical exams showed the injury and it means that he will have to miss both games of the Champions League Final.

These matches would have been the last games for the Slovenian player in the Ciudad Real jersey anyway. Pajovic signed for Celje for the next season.

Good news is, however, that the recovery process will be not more than six weeks and he will be ready for the start of the season in Slovenia with Celje.

This is a major blow for coach Dujshebaev who will need to get the best out of his players to reinforce their defence. Accordingly, Morros and Dinart will have to play more.

Parrondo confident

Despite the loss, Spanish players are optimistic. The right winger Parrondo secured the fans that Ciudad will do everything in their power to win the CL title. Though he knows it will be difficult:

“Kiel are a great squad. I think we have played enough games before and it is obvious that the teams are very equal. Probable a better day will decide the trophy. We hope that we can play a very equal game there and do the rest of the job at home. Chances are 50-50, small details will decide.”
