Stefansson case reviewed

Ciudad Real player, Olafur Stefansson, was given red card in the last minute of the semi-final second leg match, HSV Hamburg vs Ciudad Real for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

The EHF Competitions Commission has dealt with the case of Olafur Stefansson and made the decision not to award a suspension to the player.

The basis for the decision was that the goalkeeper of HSV Hamburg was not in a regular position to take the goalkeeper’s throw at the time when Stefansson made the foul against him, and consequently a further sanction against the player would not be appropriate.
