EHF CL: Executive Committee decisions

The Executive Committee of the European Handball Federation dealt with the open questions of the EHF Champions League 2009/10 season at their Meeting on 12 June in Istanbul.

In the Men’s EHF Champions League, the question of wild cards out of the applying National Federations/Clubs has been decided based on the defending champion’s place as well as on the CL ranking.

The Executive Committee has decided on the organisation of a Wild Card Tournament with the following teams taking part:

Reale Ademar Leon (Spain)
TBV Lemgo (Germany)
RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko (Slovenia)
Kadetten Handball (Switzerland)

The Wild Card Tournament will take place parallel to the other Qualification Tournaments on 4-6 September 2009. Reale Ademar Leon, coming from the country of the defending champion, will have the first right to organise the tournament. The clubs are requested to confirm their participation by Tuesday 16 June.

Women’s EHF CL

Based on the application for a wild card in the Women’s EHF Champions League by Denmark, the wild card of the defending champion has been awarded to FCK Handbold A/S.

Champions League seedings

The final seedings of the Men’s and Women’s EHF Champions League and the Qualification Tournaments will be published tomorrow, on 16 June 2009 at 12.30hrs.

Draw procedures

The draw for the Men’s and Women’s EHF Champions League Qualification will take place on Thursday, 18 June 2009 at 11:00hrs.

The Men’s and Women’s EHF Champions League Draw will be carried out during the gala event in the Museum Lichtenstein of Vienna on Wednesday 24 June.
