Great place for a coach
Eurohandball.com talks to Karl-Erik Bohn after the first game of Larvik at the Champions Trophy in Chekhov.
Eurohandball.com: You have five Olympic champions in your team. This must be a really strong one…
Karl-Erik Bohn: Exactly. Four of my players – Riegelhuth, Breivang, Johansen and Larsen – won the Olympics in Beijing and Rantala won earlier with Denmark.
We have 10 experienced players in our team and we have 7 young players. It means that we have a top level team, but maybe few reserves.
Eurohandball.com: What does the Champions Trophy mean for your team?
Karl-Erik Bohn: This is a good start for the season. We wanted to play in the final, but now we will only go for the third place. The problem was that we made too many mistakes that we do not often make, allowed too many goals in the second half.
Eurohandball.com: The Champions League is coming up for your team…
Karl-Erik Bohn: We have a very strong group: Lada, Valcea and one from Podravka, Leipzig or Itxako. I hope that we can reach the next round. Whenever we have a good day, we are able to play on a high level.
Eurohandball.com: Who are the best candidates for the CL title?
Karl-Erik Bohn: The usual top teams, such as Lada, Zvezda and the others. There are about 8 teams who could have a chance, Larvik included.
Eurohandball.com: What is it like to be a coach in Larvik?
Karl-Erik Bohn: It´s a great place for a coach. The people surrounding us are great, the town is proud about us. There isn´t even particularly big pressure on us and we did not suffer a single defeat on home court since March 1999. Maybe it would be time to make the home games a bit more exciting…
