Richardson returns to Pamplona

Richardson in his current team, ChamberyJackson Richardson is more than just a player in Pamplona. The French playmaker could not play against Portland, but he was the real star of the match, anyway. His successful seasons, his magical handball in Pamplona, nobody can forget. Jackson also thinks back on the team and fans of Portland with a smile on his face. Ehfcl.com talks to a happy Richardson on his visit to Pamplona with Chambery.

Eurohandball.com: What does it feel to be back in Pamplona?

Richardson: It was really strange. I won the title that I was looking for in Pamplona, the Champions League. So Portland are a special team for me. I have seen a lot of friends and I am very happy for this. I enjoyed five seasons in Pamplona.

Eurohandball.com: There have been lots of changes ever since. Javier Equisoain is not the coach any more...

Richardson: Yes. I talked to all the people and I thought that somebody was missing. But after Zupo invited for a dinner, I remembered that he was not the coach any more. (Laughing). That’s life and sport. Players, coaches... One day you play here and tomorrow somewhere else. Zupo was a great coach, but I’m sure that Portland will be a good team this season too.

The last team photo with Richardson in the middleEurohandball.com: What do you think about the new Portland?

Richardson: I have not see them enough. I will call Ivano on the phone and he will tell me. It was a pity that Balic could not play this match. Portland have international players and I hope that they will win the Champions League. I felt bad when Kiel have beaten them in the semi-finals last year.

Eurohandball.com: And what can you tell us about your current team, Chambery?

Richardson: We have a very young and high quality roaster. We signed Narcisse, Natek and Nocar. They are going to play good and very fast handball. We play very quickly now and it is very hard for me.

Eurohandball.com: What about your knee?

Richardson: This is my problem now; I have pain in the knee. I could not train last days and it was impossible to play in Pamplona.

Eurohandball.com: Do you have plans for the future?

Richardson: This season will be the last for me. Now I will take some time to recover properly and I will try to help the team. I want to be 100% fit and enjoy these months.
