Historical club Teka Cantabria from Santander will finally play in the Asobal League next season. TEKA were the first ever Champions League winner back in 1994.Economic problems of BM. Altea caused this club to have to drop out of this category after two months of doubts. Teka was the best clasificated of the teams that didn't gain a place in the ASOBAL league last season.
BM. Altea is not able to face next season for economic problems and tried to sell the place to other club. However, it was not possible and directors of the club decided to say no to their particpation in the Asobal League. Altea was at the top of the Spanish League for three seasons with Javier Cabanas (new Portland coach) in the bench and players as Jakobsen, Jorgensen or Norklit.
Teka returns to Asobal and Spanish handball regains a great club. Santander lived through wonderful years of handball with fantastic players such as Djusebaiev, Jakimovic, Garralda, Fort... Teka won the Champions League in the 90s and some other major titles. Now, Santander must re-build a competitive team for Asobal, because the club prepared a roster for the Spanish League B.
