2007/08 Champions League Qualification Round Draw

The draws for the 2007/2008 EHF Champions League qualification rounds 1 and 2 were carried out at the EHF Headquarters in Vienna today.

This season the qualification rounds of the EHF Champions League will look slightly different than in former years: the Women’s Champions League will be played with two qualification rounds in tournament format (both drawn today).

The draw was carried out by EHF Vice-president Jean Brihault and Secretary General, Michael WiedererThe teams ranked 1 & 2 in qualification 1 join the teams entering the competition in round 2. The four winners of the tournament in round 2 will secure a ticket for the Women’s Champions League Group Matches, where they will join the 12 seeded teams.

The Men’s Champions League qualification will be played with one round in the form of home and away k.o matches. The winner will go through to the Champions League Group Matches.

The qualification round will already see high quality handball in September as European top teams are also involved. In Qualification Round 2 of the Women's Champions League teams such as last year's CL runner-up, Lada Togliatti, Cup Winners' Cup winner, Romanian Valcea, Norwegian Byasen, Danish Aalborg or Hungarian Győr will also take part.

In the men's competition we find six-time Champions League winner FC Barcelona with other strong European clubs.
