Zagreb Welcomes Vori and Lazarov
Croatian Champion, CO Zagreb, signed with former Barcelona player, Igor Vori, and former Veszprém player, Kiril Lazarov. Very few Croatian fans would have believed that all their wishes could come true. But this is exactly what’s happened. The last two names on Zagreb’s “wish list” have been confirmed to join the squad.
Vori, who played two successful seasons in Barcelona, will stay in Zagreb for at least three years. The pivot of the Croatian national team returns to his hometown; there’s no doubt that he will be great danger on the line for any opponent. With his 203 cm of height and tremendous experience on international level, Vori will be part of the “Croatian Dream Team” in the 2007/2008 season.
The Fyro Macedonian Kiril Lazarov signed for 2 seasons. Lazarov needs no introduction: he scored 82 goals this CL season and finished third on the top scorer list (N.B. he was leading the list for a long time despite his team’s quarterfinal exit). Zagreb will be stronger then ever with him in the right back position. Lazarov is not new either: he played for Zagreb before moving to Hungary, in the season 2000/2001.
Zagreb has never been so effective in bringing all the players back to Croatia. Mirza Dzomba, Denis Spoljaric, Dragan Jerkovic, Igor Vori and Kiril Lazarov are the names who will make a difference. TEXT: Ivan Ambros
