Lars Krogh Jeppesen Leaves Kiel
Danish international, Lars Krogh Jeppesen, is leaving the German Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup winners. The left back spent only one year in THW Kiel.
The expectations were great from all parties when Jeppesen joined Kiel from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2006, but long injury breaks practically ruined his season at the “Zebras”. At the end of the season, the player and the club reached an agreement and the player is free to look for another club in spite of the two years left from his contract.
It was officially announced on Wednesday that his new employer will be Bjerringro/Silkeborg. The Danish club reached the quarterfinals of the Cup Winners’ Cup last season.
Happy to be home
“After seven years abroad, it is nice to be back in Denmark again. The most important thing for me is to be in the club where I can train with a smile on my face. Finally, I have no pains,” said Lars Krogh Jeppesen, when the three year contract with the Danish club was announced.
Apart from Barcelona and Kiel, the 28-year-old left back played in the Danish side Helsinge and also in the German top club, SG Flensburg Handewitt. He was awarded Bundesliga Player of the Year in 2004 as a Flensburg star.
Jicha about to join
At the same time, THW Kiel are looking for the replacement of Jeppesen. This player seems to be Filip Jicha. The Czech international plays for Bundesliga rival TBV Lemgo. Kiel already have a contract with Jicha, valid from next summer. According to rumours, the parties have agreed on a transfer right now. The Kiel management does admit, however, that some details still have to be negotiated between the two clubs.
