EHF Official Statement

Vienna, 16th May 2007 – Slagelse DT confirmed the official protest to the EHF within 48 hours after the Champions League Final Match (1st leg) due to the fact that player Carmen Lungu was not permitted to enter Russia upon arrival in Samara because of entry formalities.

Consequently, the case was put forward to the Competitions Commission, the responsible EHF Body of 1st Instance.

The Body of 1st Instance has dismissed the protest for lack of factual questions and petitions being of relevance for the actual proceedings. Slagelse DT have not submitted neither a formal motion to reschedule the match nor to declare the result as invalid.

Nevertheless, the EHF will continue investigations in this case in view to future proceedings for delegation member entering Russian territory in relation with EHF competitions.
